Let’s start off with rewinding back to the initial days of my self titled blog when I was trying to make it, in this world of fast fashion. I was a teenager with some sense of style who was taking photos of herself in her bedroom on a timer. My outfits were shot in bulk & tbh I don’t think I really wore all those outfits. Some yes, most no! I wanted a style that stood out a little even though in reality wearing a lot of basic outfits.

Now I was all about the highstreet brands back then; those were the days of new look & boohoo. I was shopping for the sake of shopping & somethings I would buy things purely for the blog. That wasn’t a bad thing right? Everyone was doing it weren’t they?

What I didn’t realise as a newbie blogger was all those hauls & outfits posts were being fuelled by people buying then returning items yet here I was over spending. Yes that was a thing & I think now days that has died down.

Now days ethical blogging has really emerged & it’s refreshing because in a world full of fast fashion you can often feel left behind.

My love for vintage started in my early teens & eBay was my go to place to find bargains but I wasn’t always presenting that on my blog. I felt like to grow as a blogger you always had to have items people could just go out & buy. Even now I feel that pressure because if I want to make money from affiliate links people have to be able to click & buy instantly.

These days I don’t want to shop constantly for my blog, yes I love outfit posts & I love fashion but that’s not a focal point. I think that’s what’s changed for me & it’s made me feel better. Gone are the days when I feel like I have to sit down & configure outfits. Now I can just buy when I love something & form an outfit with existing pieces.

Vintage pieces are beautiful & they just feel different. Not everyone has that item & that’s great because you can create original outfits that suit you. Maybe it doesn’t work for affiliate links & maybe that’s still a problem to overcome but I feel ten times better presenting outfits I actually wear then something put together just for ByBusby.

There’s always going to be the pressure to curate content that is relevant but sometimes taking a step back & utilising what you already have makes better content. Being yourself in the blogosphere is more important than spamming aff links to your followers in the hope of them buying it.

I still love to shop from time to time but I also like exploring vintage fairs & stores to find pieces I love too. I feel like in a world of fast fashion having bespoke items that represents you makes you stand out from the crowd. Of course having that on trend piece is amazing if you love it but it shouldn’t feel like a need.

The fear of not owning is huge in the blogging world but at the end of the day as bloggers we create the blogosphere so we have the ability to change that.

I love seeing all the vintage shops, you can pick up some gorgeous items. Being plus size, I don’t see much in the way of clothes but there are some gorgeous pieces!
