Look who finally took some new photos with her new locks. Least now I finally have what I currently look like on my blog I guess. Don’t worry I’m not going to be rambling on about my hair in today’s blog post I’m actually here to talk about why I think 2019 might just be the year of the blog.
I know it’s a little ironic me writing about how people are finally paying attention to their blogs this year when I’ve been a little relaxed with mine but I truly think 2019 might be the year of the blog. I’m seeing so many people return to their space on the internet & creating content that feels a little more old school too.
Why do I think 2019 might be the year of the blog?
This year seems to have kickstarted people’s passion for blogging. Last year I saw so many of my favourite bloggers grow on Instagram & then forget to continue with their blog. No judgement from me because Insta is tough & a money maker but it was a shame to see so many bloggers move away from actual blogging. As much a I love scrolling my feed I still love reading blog posts & keeping up to date with a select few.
2018 seemed to be the year when we started taking blogging seriously. People were really pushing it to taken seriously by the mainstream & for us in the industry to know our worth. We had loads of resources being released to really help those who needed to learn more & bloggers seemed to want to take charge of their content. I think 2018 was the year of education & 2019 is the year of the blog taking the spotlight back from social media.
We all know that social media is a fickle game. It draws you in & then changes the algorithm. You have zero control over the site or your content completely so why do we spend so much time there & so little on the thing we own?
Insta is easy. It is instant & I know people work hard on their content because it is bitesize so you don’t have to invest as much time into the post. You also don’t have to worry about anything in the background so you’re able to just post. Blogging takes more time & investment.
I have seen a lot more bloggers return to regular blogging & I’ve also seen bloggers change up their content. Not everyone moved away from their websites last year. Some actually invested more time & money into it (I’m putting myself in this category…) but I have noticed them change up their schedules. More bloggers are reducing the pressure & being a little less editorial & a bit more raw with their content.
I’m actually really excited to see what the bloggers returning create but also how this new shift into old school blogging does to the blogosphere. We all know we need a shake up in the industry & to have a little more fun. 2018 had so much drama with all the bots, copying & bitchness so hopefully 2019 can just be the year when we blog without boundaries or criticism.
Have you noticed this shift too? If so please let me know if you’re making changes this year & what you hope for in the blogosphere down below.
