My Winter Blogging Motivation

Autumn icon close up Who doesn’t love a good old autumn blog shoot? Well as you can tell I’m in my element; between the burnt orange colours & the crunchy leaves I love a stroll on the weekend. On the other hand I’m not so keen on the fact I’m always cold & blogging becomes ten times more difficult. As if we didn’t have enough problems trying to shoot & create content now the weather is miserable & the natural light is barely a thing. You can probably guess this post is me venting about my motivation levels so here goes.Autumn outfitBlogging motivation autumn outfitAs much as I love blogging, when winter creeps in my motivation hits rock bottom. The only way to explain it is as it gets colder & darker my general motivation for life itself becomes low. After working 9hrs of the day the last thing I want to do is go home & blog.

My weekends are full of blogging most months of the year; between lazy days writing & days out shooting I’m always ready to get creative. On the other hand in the winter I just want to relax rather than chasing the small window of sunlight in the morning to get the perfect shot. Winter just makes me lazy!

Blogging motivation autumn outfitI’m not making up excuses here; I think most of us bloggers feel the pain of winter when it comes to creating content. Taking photos isn’t my favourite thing at the best of times so when the natural light disappears I struggle a lot. You’ll notice over this period there will be a lot more lifestyle content rather than flatlays. It’s just a gradual progression & a huge regret of not preparing flatlays in the summer.

I also can’t deny during the winter like the majority of us, my outfits contain many more layers that aren’t always cute to blog about. I head to my comfortable clothes & drag out all the simple pieces I have. Next comes the cardigans with a warm jacket & usually a hefty scarf.

Fashion blogging was always my weakness when it came to this season & luckily this year I have a few outfits planned out so you won’t be left with me rambling all season.Blogging motivation autumn outfitBlogging motivation autumn outfitThis outfit is one of my transition pieces which definitely wasn’t warm enough for the day. I’m in love with the mustard & burnt orange tonnes against my purple hair this season & I thought I’d give the whole half tucked thing a go. Not sure if I’m working it as well as I first thought.

If you want to get your hands on this beautiful shirt (it comes it black too) head over to Missguided. I can’t easily see it being a key piece in my wardrobe. A few extras layers & this outfit may have been better suited to the weather but wouldn’t have looked quite as good. Autumn outfit close upI thought I’d give you guys the heads up that over this winter my blog may not be as active as in the warmer weather. This isn’t me saying that I’m going to put blogging to one side but I will be reducing my content to suit the change in my motivation levels. I’ve got a bunch of content planned & I’m really excited to share it with you but I’ll be slowing down & spending my time indulging in all the activities this festive period brings. Lets hope I can get some really nice photographs when the sun decides to bless me with natural light! My brain may explode trying but I’m determined.

Shelley xx
